Are you a BI Avoider

Found an interesting blog that describes the kinds of BI users typically found in most organizations.

With adoption rates being low for "Descriptive" statistics it's not surprising that "Predictive" statistics is even more difficult to widely adopt.

BI Generalists Get IT Done!

I've always wrestled with the Jack of All Trades, Master of None approach.  10 years ago colleagues specialized in database, middle tier, front end, J2EE, .NET, web development, IT management vs technical tracks, etc...   I'm still happy to have taken the BI road. :)
I think this article is a good summary http://www.itbusinessedge.com/cm/blogs/all/the-value-of-the-business-intelligence-generalist/?cs=43917 of the benefits/weaknesses of the generalist approach.

Need for a BI Spanner Blog

I've been thinking about how to best describe what I do for a while.  I read a recent post by Wayne Eckerson at TDWI and I think he's coined a great term.

This blog is going to be aimed at providing content to help other "Spanners!"  --
